The Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC) classifies a film X18+, when it "contains depictions of sexual activity ..... in a way that is likely to cause offence to a reasonable adult". 

 

Do you think films containing actual sex, including close ups, involving consenting adults with no coercion or violence, are offensive?

Sex and sexual activity is one of the most natural things a man and woman can undertake together. Providing there is no violence or coercion in these DVDs then of course it's not offensive. People should have the right to view what they wish to - again providing the material in question is not violent.

If censorship laws are changed - at least we will be given a choice! It should be my democratic right to have a say in what I find offensive. It's not like we will be forced to watch these movies. If it's offensive - simply don't watch it!

NO! Pornographic films with two consenting adults is NOT offensive. Sex is natural and pornography is a legitimate form of sexual expression.

People should have the right to view what they wish to

Thats the key point here, give the individual the right to choose instead of the government dictating to me what I can watch and what I cannot.  The Government treats us like children and they are the parents, its a joke.

No one is forcing me to watch an explicit film, but its nice to know I can watch one if I want to and as an adult I should be able to readily access this material.

 

As an Adult it is my right to choose what I want to watch. As long as the films do not hurt anyone or contain minors, Who cares what we watch!!! Sex is natural.. We ALL would not be here if someone hadn't has sex!!!!

Being an adult female I don't find explicit DVD's and literature offensive,  as it isn't shoved in my face all the time as violence on television.  To experience these types of DVD's one has to purchase them  themselves using their own free will .  We are all grown ups it's about time we got treated that way, and we shouldn't have to live under prehistoric laws.

In no way do I find these films offensive as long as the the people in the films are consenting adults.

The only thing that offends me is that I am an adult and the OFLC has taken away my freedom of choice.

It's amazing how we can watch such violent movies which are freely available to the public and underage children yet something like this has an X rating, so bizarre 

Offended???  Surely you jest.  Here are a list of things that I consider to be much more offensive that Adult Films:

1. The Australian governments refusal to sign the Kyoto Protocol.  Thanks for polluting the planet and caring only for your own short term prosperity rather than the grandchildren of the present population.  bastards.
2. John Howard's refusal to admit that he has duped every Australian into being a terror target after so willingly and readily being prepared to prepetuate George Bush's lies about weapons of mass destruction onto the Australian public.
3. The concept of being alone in the Universe and the fact that our government supports this proposterous idea.
4. The fact that discerning and consenting adults are told what they consider offensive without any consultation and having this premise forced upon the choices available to them in a free market and capitalist society by thoses whose whom are indirectlty asserting beliefs upon us which are derivitive of own personal theological beliefs rather than ANY real understanding of the average Australian - and no doubt drastically divergent. 
5. Shapel Corby getting 20 years for something could not be directly proven and should be legal while Abu Bakir Bashir walks free after having being connected to the bali bombings - and our government keeps giving them more aid

But adult films made for consenting adults offended?????  The views of christian fundamentalist SHOULD NOT ever be allowed to be the moral conscience of this country which I find WAY MORE OFFENSIVE than any adult movie.

To the poster who mentioned seeing unwanted violence on TV. I'm sorry madam, but the TV content classifications clearly state what each program contains, e.g. "mild coarse language,violence" and so on. Your statement makes no sense...in fact you sound exactly like the wowsers you're censuring. Censorship in general is bad, people. It does not matter whether it's porn or horror films or political manipulation. Freedom of speech applies across the board. As I've said elsewhere, decrying violent movies in the hopes that the censors will target it instead of X content is hypocracy pure and simple. Come on, you're smarter than that.

No Im not offended by porn. I admit there is some things I don't like eg shots in the mouth, that just grosses me.

No I'm not offended, and do agree with Meg that there are certain things that gross me out also. But I'm pretty open minded and don't mind a once or twice but then will just watch something without those things in it. Each to their own though..... But for us who aren't offended at least let us have a choice! There are bigger and worse things happening in this world to fuss over us being able to legally purchase erotic movies! So why not??????

Nope, not offended by movies depicting adults having sex. I do agree that they should only be made available to adults on a restricted basis. Maybe the OLFC should be looking more closely at what our children are watching now days, I mean just turn on MTV and you'll see under general exhibition film clips of women wearing very little clothing, straddling each other, straddling men, it's quite eye opening. and very adult. Maybe they need to start rating video clips- do they rate video clips? Does anyone know?
