    70% of women accept!

In a survey conducted by ACNielsen in September 2006, results highlighted that 70% of Australian women agreed that explicit erotic films should be available to people aged 18 and over.

What are your thoughts on women's acceptance of explicit erotic films in today's society?

My friends and I talk about this stuff all the time. I've watched and enjoyed sex films and most of my girlfriends have too. My aunt recently asked me about getting some DVDs too. Isn't this common?

    Re: 70% of women accept!

I agree Anna. My female friends, all in their early 30s, all with a husband or partner and all well educated, have talked about watching sex DVDs with their partners. As far as I'm concerned it's a common part of most people's sex lives. Quite common indeed.

Here Here to porn I love it.

I think todays generation of women accept it way more than the generations before us. We are more open to talk about things and more open to try new things. I am in my twentys and If I spoke to a women in her fiftys about porn movies she would think that Im a dirty girl and she would go off if she caught her husband with a porn vid. Thats just the way it was back then. Its the same with masterbation, if we grew up in their days it was a BIG no no for us to masterabte.

Go women of the world!!!! I am quite open in my discussions with my friends about my collection of erotic movies. My husband and I both enjoy watching them, and it spices things up a little. Why shouldn't I be allowed to purchase adult movies from an adult store? It's just stupid. I think most owmen would be offended if some crusty old politican told her she didn't have the right to watch what she wants!

Porn should be available to everybody including women. We all have sex drive , and we all have the choices and should be able to make them and be able to buy and purchase porn if and when we want it. The Government and the The Office of Film and Literature Classification need to get there S*** together the world is changing there is alot more inportant things out there to be worrying about that not to sell Porn!!

Although the OFLC has its faults and makes loopy decisions too often, their mandate is driven by politicians who are, in my view, pressured constantly by well-organised conservative lobby groups.

The best plan of action is to lobby politicians yourselves to support the common sense view that freedom of speech is important, and that current tight censorship of the X 18+ category is not acceptable.

    Re: 70% of women accept!

I don't know too many women who haven't watched at least one erotic dvd and those who haven't certainly aren't offended they just choose not too. It should be a choice for us to make not the government!

    Re: 70% of women accept!

As the female Manager of an Adult Retail Outlet, I feel it is every adult person's right to view Non Violent Erotica if they want to.  From experience, the amount of women that enter our stores just about equals men and these girls are coming in with an open mind.  Too many "do gooders" treat sex in a negative fashion, but when it involves consenting adults it can be a fun and adventurous way to enhance a relationship and meet the needs of people that may not have a partner at the time.  My husband and I enjoy watching porn as part of our relationship.  It adds a bit of spice to our 11 year marriage and has not caused any detrimental effect whatsoever.  Some of the adult movies that have been made recently have been of an excellent quality and even of a motion picture type feel to it.  Some of the storylines are solid and the camera work is of an outstanding standard.  The state and federal politicians need to gauge how the adult public in general feel about Non Violent Erotica and change the laws accordingly.  By allowing classified adult material to be available in all states it will help stamp out the bootleggers and pirateers that are selling adult movies at markets and other places where underage people can readily access this material.  Australia needs to get a voice and allow Non Violent Erotica for sale in adult shops for adults.  Good luck Adultshop, I will be signing the petition again this year at Sexpo.  And to all the ladies that come into my adult shop - you go girls!!!

    Re: 70% of women accept!

I Also work in a Adultshop. I couldnt agree more with you.I have found the number of females buying DVD's have increaced, Not only are they buying them to watch with their partners, they are allso buying them for their own personal viewing.I have many female friends that have just started to watch erotic moives and the feed back that I get is. They wished they had seen them before and that it has enchanced their sex life with their partners..

In my eyes its very easy.. Buy it if YOU want to . Dont buy it if you dont want to watch it.

THe choice should be OURS to make not the goverment.

What the goverment view as offence I may not . so how are they to tell me what I do or dont find offencive

Believe it or not..Its not just men who purchase Adult films. Alot of woman purchase these movies and enjoy watching them.If you are over the age of 18 you should have the right to purchase these films when you want. You are the legal age to drink, drive and have sex but cannot go out and buy a disc to watch it???? I work in the Adult Industry and believe me alot of women are buying these movies so people need to stop with their standards and wake up to the 20th centuary!!!! Women have opinions and minds of their own to!!! Bring on the Porn! and Iam a woman in her 30s Wink

    Re: 70% of women accept!

Hey Plonk... I think that ur generalising a bit bout women in their 50s... my gfs and i just love porn and always have. Its great being allowed to access it now as it wasnt always possible when we were in our 20s. My hubby and i enjoy watching it together too. And do u think that masturbating is something u invented... just because it was a no no doesnt mean it didnt happen babe. :)

    Re: 70% of women accept!

Exactly! Sex and enjoyment of it, is as ancient as the sands of time. What I think is different these days is how we communicate about it - the openness of discussion, teaching and so on. Given global issues like AIDS, we all have to be more aware of sex. If we can be aware of how to do it carefully and responsibly, why can't we be aware and open about hoew to enjoy it too?
