Re: Have you ever been surveyed?

The only surveys i ever get are the ones that seem to ring up at dinner time and ask stupid questions about what I listen to on the radio. Never do I get asked to participate in an interesting servey! I'd put my hand up to contribute what I think about stuff that's currently X rated! Yes

I have never been surveyed for anything like this and maybe they should do more surveys like this, I would certainly like to participate in one.!!!!!!!!!!

No I havent or do I know anyone who has,The Office of Film and Literature Classification sit in their own little world and believe they know whats right for us Australians, They DO NOT!!!! They have no idea. They would much rather us watch people get killed than watch someone make love. Where is the sence in this?? I dont believe they survey anyone but the people in their absent mind set ways.

another company does that, the MPAA  and The Natzis

Re: Have you ever been surveyed?

I've had many lengthy and convoluted discussions and conversations with various staff of the OFLC during which my views on the way they interpret and apply legislation was discussed but I don't think I can recall ever been asked specifically for my opinion via a survey.

My recollection is a bit hazy but I think I have read at their site that the OFLC conducts some kind of meeting/s with sectors of the community to help them ascertain "Community Standards". Although back in 2001 they apparently didn't discuss X18 with any of their Community Consultation panels - who knows if they have since then? The OFLC also go to some length to point out that their own staff represent a cross section of "community". Without wanting to state the bleeding obvious, I think the problem is that the OFLC is administering a crap piece of legislation - often without much consistency I might add.

I recently had the OFLC refuse to grant a Film Festival exemption for a film I represent here in Australia that had been classified X18 - the festival was already an age restricted event, the decision meant that an adult audience were denied the opportunity to see a sexy and very beautiful film that very much represented their "Community" - a film by a noted directer chosen by a panel of experienced film festival programmers for festival of world reknown. I wonder how that might be an accurate reflection of Australian "Community Standards"?
