A Sunday Age investigation into Victoria's adult entertainment industry has found storefront shelves heavy with tens of thousands of X-rated films, which show real depictions of sex and are illegal to sell in Australia outside the ACT and Northern Territory.

More worrying though, is the widespread presence of unclassified films, which have not been submitted to the Classification Review Board and as such are illegal to sell anywhere in Australia.

Isn't this exactly the situaiton adultshop.com have been trying to make politicians and the authorities aware of all along? That unless the laws which exist to manage the distribution of adult films are enforced, this black market with far worse types of films, will operate and flourish? Considering just how awful the illegal films this article describes are, why the hell do the police consider it unnecessary to prosecute? Surely if enough prosecutions, fines and jail terms were issued, the industry would be forced to only retail legitimate, classified adult films with no violence. As it is now, the risk is so minimal they can afford to chance it compared with the money they're making selling this junk! POLICE IT!!!
