A court challenge over an X-rated film has reignited a debate over whether the ban on non-violent pornography should be lifted, writes Caroline Overington, Senior Journalist for The Australian newspaper.

I see the "Australian Family Association" are giving their two cents worth in the Federal Court case. The AFA are a Christian lobby group who have compared gays to animals and have links to various "right-wing" Christian groups in Australia.

These people claim that any relaxing of the current classification laws to allow R-ratings for non-violent erotica will inevitably lead to violent porn being widely (and legally) available, which if obvious nonsense. It is clear they are simply anti-porn for religious reasons; I would be surprised if they bring anything of value to this debate, as organisations like this really aren't interested in logic, reason, or the will of the majority.
