An article in the UK's Guardian Newspaper this week discusses the recent release of movie Shortbus, and whether liberalism is gaining ground with regards to 'real sex' in movies.

Shortbus, the new film by Director John Cameron Mitchell, explores the lives of several emotionally challenged characters as they navigate the comic  and tragic intersections between love and sex. That is, real sex! Not simulated!

Launched in October to the American market, the film was universally applauded with Time Magazine calling it "unmissable".

The 'real sex' in Shortbus includes scenes such as mass orgies and gay threesomes - so are we growing up?

Shortbus has been classified R18+ for the Australian market, and signals a possible change to the classification of films that include real sex.
